Is it March already?

It has been a busy start to the year. A couple of weeks in Australia visiting family and friends (neatly avoiding winter) and meeting some work commitments, were followed by a busy February with a number of projects on the boil back here in Spain.

Globalisation and the Internet can make the world feel small but it starts feeling bigger again after 30 hours travelling between Spain and Australia. And while we feel at home on both sides of the world now, we can't help but notice how different people's lives are around the world. In particular, many of our friends have 'international' relationships spanning the globe, partly a product of Australia's isolation. The global village and the relationships it produces are 'spicy', stimulating and exciting but they have their pitfalls. One of the worst is having to schlep around the globe to get to see loved ones and home.

So if Boeing could team up with Ryanair to produce a supersonic budget airline 'cuanto antes', we'd all be very appreciative.

We have been blessed with a mild winter, lots of sun and even reached 22 degrees on a few occasions - my sort of winter. It looks like NY has been colder...

While in Sydney we did some navigating around the place to visit friends and could have done with a navigation system such as the one illustrated below. A heads-up display shows a simple red line to follow instead of having to listen for instructions or study a minute screen. Simple but effective and safer, research here in Spain found car navigation more distracting than phones or other in-car technology.

It's not just media clutter that we need to worry about. Research in Australia found that two in five Australians are emotionally affected by household clutter! To be expected perhaps given the amount of junk most of us accumulate every year. Time for a northern hemisphere spring clean. As a former 'jefe' said, 'anything I haven't used for four months I don't need'. I guess looking at artwork on the wall qualifies as 'use'. The inspection room at LAX doesn't suffer clutter...

Off to Alimentaria next week, the world's biggest food and wine trade fair in Madrid, yumm!
